Abies balsamea  Balsam Fir

Balsam Fir is native to North American and has long been one of the most popular christmas tree viareties.  Balsam fir is also a valuable specimen used in a landscape setting.  Balsam fir is can be readily transplanted balled and burlap.  They prefer well drained, acid soils, and a generally colder climate.  Balsam fir is considered to be more shade tolerant than other firs and is very sensitive to air pollution, hot and dry weather.

Mature Size: 45'-75' in height, 20'-25' spread
Disease and Insects: spruce budworm, wooly aphid and canker diseases.
